Renee Commerford moved to the Bay Area in late 2010 from Boston, MA to take a position as Medical Science Director in US Medical Affairs at Genentech. Since 1995, she has been on research teams that have worked to develop drugs for the treatment of obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and stroke. She has a PhD in nutritional biochemistry and a Master’s of Science in exercise physiology, both from Colorado State University. She is currently a candidate for Masters of Public Health at University of California-Berkeley with an expected completion date of June, 2015. She has taught physiology, anatomy and nutrition courses at the university level, most recently at Ubangi Protestant University in Gemena, Democratic Republic of Congo in spring of 2012 and 2013. Her passions include helping people find ways to live more healthful lives, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with family and close friends.
