Our mission is to empower the children and families of Redwood City & North Fair Oaks to reach their full potential…in this generation and the next. How? It begins with relationships, one-on-one, between the adult volunteers and the children they read with, tutor, and befriend. And then the whole family gets involved, around meals, fitness programs, service projects, community networking, and conversations about the things that matter to the neighborhood.
Led by a competent and passionate team, Generations United partners with local schools, congregations, businesses, and city government, mobilizing hundreds of incredible volunteers to help bring positive transformation to even more students, parents and extended family. Growing in literacy, math, science, and whole life skills, these joined lives – across generations and culture – bring health and renewal to the most vulnerable among these Peninsula communities.
We invite you to learn more about what we do…and to join us!
HOW IT WORKS

Generations United partners with local schools to identify students struggling in literacy.
Trained volunteers come alongside students not only as a reading partner and academic tutor but also as an encouraging friend to them…and also their families.
Students and their families are given the encouragement, inspiration, and confidence to succeed academically, flourish relationally, and contribute societally.
