Summer Camp 2022

Summer usually means fun in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks, but not necessarily for everyone. Generations United is committed to providing safe spaces where the fun of learning can continue, even after the school year ends. In 2022, we had incredible camps for students in July. Thanks to a partnership with Calvary Church San Mateo and the Redwood City Salvation Army, we had a Vacation Bible School (VBS) element to go along with our traditional STEAM activities. Each week had a morning and afternoon session with a meal and snacks provided. We are working to set up summer camps for 2023 and could use your help! Is your high school student available to work as a summer intern? Are you able to volunteer one day a week? Could you sponsor a student?

For many students, June through August is a prime opportunity for "summer slide" - the term that refers to what happens to their academic skills they gained throughout the year. Therefore, Generations United keeps our Academic Enrichment Centers open, providing one of the few places in the area for kids to keep learning alive, catch up on needed skills, and strengthen literacy by reading one-on-one with Redwood City Reads volunteers.

Volunteers Make It Possible

We invite you to join us in making a difference in the life of a child and his or her whole family. Whether it is reading one-on-one with a student at our summer camp or over zoom, tutoring in math or science, helping host a community event, providing a meal, preparing crafts, or helping with administration, we have an opportunity for you!
