Summer usually means fun in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks, but not necessarily for everyone. Generations United is committed to providing safe spaces where the fun of learning can continue, even after the school year ends.

Academic Enrichment Centers / Redwood City Reads

For many children, June through August can become a “summer slump” that can actually erase the academic skills they gained throughout the year. Therefore, Generations United keeps their Academic Enrichment Centers open, providing one of the few places in the area for kids to keep learning alive, catch up on needed skills, and strengthen literacy by reading one-on-one with Redwood City Reads volunteers.

STEAM Camp

STEAM Camp offers another academically-enriching opportunity for continued learning in the summer. Science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics disciplines all come together through innovative, imaginative, and hands-on projects. This is a camp that exercises the mind, fosters teamwork, and surfaces a group’s collective potential. Here as well we find our collaboration with other organizations to be key.

Volunteers Make It Possible

We invite you to join us in making a difference in the life of a child and his or her whole family. Whether it is reading one-on-one with a student at one of the school sites, tutoring in math or science, helping host a community event, providing a meal, preparing backpacks, or helping with administration, we have an opportunity for you!
